BASSET

Renegade Mamba
"The prey will become the predator."
Mark of the Champion | Basset
Before the species of Limsia congregated throughout the realm, the Ahnaks lived isolated in perpetual war. The 10 Tribes of the Ahnak demiurge, Sekti, fought for her divine favor, in hopes of gaining eternal prosperity. Upon discovering other Limsian species, the Sekti Prophet, Muut, united the tribes against the imminent dangers ahead, guiding them in a proclamation of peace under the flag of war. The Muut Pact, prevented the clans from interfering in the others’ ventures, and with it, to ensure separation, intertribal procreation and mingling was strictly forbidden until their first interspecies skirmish with the Sprys. For thousands of years, through strife and conflict, the 10 tribes lived separately uniting only to combat threats too dire and colossal, for a single tribe; however, the birth of Basset put their treaty at risk.
Born into Naja, the Ahnakian tribe of burly warriors, Basset’s physical appearance left no doubt to her heritage. Her mouth, however, concealed a secret. Her conception was the consequence of an impermissible romance, resulting in an Najian child with gums as dark as onyx, the birthmark of the Aspis Tribe, the most feared of the ten. Under penalty of death, Basset’s family forced an oath of silence upon her, prohibiting her speech, and with it, her identity. The pressure of being ousted was a guillotine looming over her head, forcing Basset to endure her bullying with a grimace; each confrontation threatened to cut the rope. Filled with frustration, Basset's rage exploded, exposing her unique features and her mother’s affair. With death inevitable, she escaped into the Wildelands but her family was less fortunate. In the depths of the wild she fought for survival, crafting a den from both the bones of the beasts that dwelled within and the Anhaks who attempted to collect on her bounty. The story of her survival became a legend told in whispers, luring runaways and exiles to her nest. Her existence became a beacon for those disillusioned with their tribe’s oppression, mushrooming her small faction into an enormous militia. With a faction of Ahnaks large enough to become its own sect, Basset's existence threatens the accord of the pact, and with it, the Anhakian way of life.
