RHYYIS

Black Ice Princess
"It's my birthright! The seas belong to me!"
Mark of the Champion | Rhyyis
The seas of Limsia grew dangerously choppy following the absence of the GoDS, none more so than the Naedian sea. Serving as the most convenient passage between Elysia and the neighboring continents, emigrants, those attempting to start a new life but lacking the coin to access the gates, opted to travel by sea. However, the influx of travelers bred easy targets for unscrupulous sailors, birthing the rise of pirates. Tales of treasures, sea songs, and adventure traveled from ear to ear on the ocean winds, enticing the impressionable, but the reality was stark; for the less fortunate, assaults, pillaging, and death was far more prominent. Anarchy ensued, prompting the sea species to form an alliance, the Naedian Armada, a coalition of seafaring nations backed by the riches of the Mermian Empire. Recognizing the threat of this new covenant, legions of pirates sailed under the command of Black Ice Manticore, Ruckus; and thus, the War of the Blood Tide was fought. With Ruckus’ defeat, the appeal of the pirate lifestyle slowly diminished; however, for Rhyyis, his adopted daughter, sailing the seas was her birthright, and she would not be denied.
Although raised decades after the war, hearing shanties regaling the legendary feats of her father nourished her sailing spirit. She sailed in his wake, flourishing as a pirate in her own right, but with Ruckus’ imprisonment, the unwieldy weight of commanding the Black Ice crew rested on her. Their banner terrorized the seas longer than expected, but under the boot of the Naedian Armada, all pirate factions, no matter how skilled, dwindled to extinction. Rhyyis, both crewless and humiliated, accepted various jobs to survive, but found the salt in her blood craved a life of adventure. When the sirens of the sea enticed her return, Rhyyis gleefully raised the banners of the Black Ice pirates once again.
