Rhyyis Champion/Deck Breakdown

Updated: May 29

  • Who is Rhyyis?

    • Rhyyis is an A rank Octian Occultist and leader of the Black Ice Pirates. Having high HP and SDG but low ATK and decent INT and DEF, she is a capable mage, suitable for any game type.

    • Although she lacks offensive and defensive markers, her 3 shade and 3 frost markers opens the door to higher level shade and frost spells to make up the difference.

  • What strategies can I use?

    • Rhyyis can be augmented for a shade decks, a shade/frost hybrid, or a frost deck. Until the arrival of other black ice spells, players can maximize the included cards to build the most optimal black ice deck.

    • If you find yourself needed more defensive options, you can try adding shadow coffin to increase your defenses

    • Utilize her surprise defensive capabilities to thwart plans, and launch a counter offensive blitz on your turn.

    • The second part of her mastery can be used against mono-element champions like Kirba to shut them down for a single turn.

    • Rhyyis' high SDG output potential and 6 spell crests make her an excellent magician, and effective against guardian champions like Vynessa and Basset, whose focus is on defending against Melee attacks. Champions with low or potentially low INT such as Ronk and Esgaris may also fall to her high SDG output

    • Good team ups for Rhyyis include other frost champions such as Darrio, Elricka, and/or Starmory. Alternatively, pairing Rhyyis with a shade champion like Syun could be fruitful as well.

  • What are her weaknesses?

    • While Rhyyis is a well rounded champion with great HP and SDG, her low ATK and 0 offensive markers make adapting her into a melee fighter difficult.  Additionally, her fair INT and Def make her weaker against glass cannons of both melee and spell types . Try adding additional defensive options to your deck to increase her survivability. By combining it with her mastery, you may find yourself with a more well rounded deck.

    • Tough match ups for Rhyyis may include high pressure champions, such as Avigail, and sages, such as Cyd and Ayleth for their higher INT and advantages against magicians.

  • Deck Difficulty

    • This deck is rated moderate difficulty due to alternate effects when using black Ice as shade spells. As an occultist, remember that if the black ice is being used as a shade spell, Rhyyis' baked effect will allow you to activate it at 2 less Will.

    • Control your opponent with buccaneer blow and Black Ice Brine Cannon, utilizing the 'Freeze' and 'Frighten' status effects to slow down your opponents momentum.

    • Since the majority of the cards included are frost spells, champions who can use frost spells would benefit greatly from the cards included. Use the cards to enhance your existing frost decks or add other frost or shade cards into the deck to strengthen it.
